1. Service Scope

NorthStar provides specialized crypto asset tracing, forensic investigation, and legal recovery services for victims of online financial fraud, including but not limited to: pig butchering scams, ransomware attacks, business email compromise (BEC), romance scams, fake investment platforms, phishing attacks, and DeFi exploits. Our services include blockchain forensics, exchange coordination, legal enforcement, and asset return facilitation.

All recovery efforts are conducted on a contingency basis — no recovery, no fee. A success fee will be agreed upon in writing before any work commences, typically calculated as a percentage of the total assets successfully recovered and returned to the client[reference:1].

2. Client Responsibilities

Clients are required to provide accurate and complete information regarding their case, including transaction hashes, wallet addresses, correspondence with scammers, and any evidence of the fraudulent activity. NorthStar reserves the right to decline a case if insufficient information is provided or if the probability of recovery is deemed minimal after initial assessment.

Clients must cooperate promptly with all reasonable requests for documentation and communication. Delays in client response may impact recovery timelines and outcomes.

3. Confidentiality & Data Protection

All client information is treated with strict confidentiality. NorthStar complies with applicable data protection regulations, including GDPR and CCPA where relevant. Client identities, case details, and recovery strategies are never disclosed to third parties without explicit client consent, except as required by law enforcement or legal process.

We employ industry-standard encryption and secure communication channels for all case-related exchanges. Data retention policies ensure that case files are securely stored and destroyed after applicable legal retention periods.

4. Fees & Payment Terms

NorthStar operates on a "no recovery, no fee" model. The success fee percentage is determined prior to case engagement and is contingent upon the successful return of recoverable assets to the client. No upfront fees or retainer payments are required.

If a recovery is successful, the agreed fee will be deducted from the recovered amount before funds are transferred to the client's designated wallet. Fee structures vary based on case complexity, asset jurisdiction, and required resources, and will be clearly outlined in the service agreement signed by both parties[reference:2].

In the event of partial recovery, fees are applied proportionally. Clients are not obligated to pay any fees if no assets are successfully recovered.

5. Liability Limitation

While NorthStar employs industry-leading forensic tools and legal strategies, recovery outcomes cannot be guaranteed. The blockchain's irreversible nature and the sophistication of modern fraud schemes may impact recoverability[reference:3]. NorthStar shall not be held liable for losses resulting from factors beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: exchange insolvency, regulatory changes, insufficient jurisdictional cooperation, or the untraceable dispersion of funds through privacy-enhancing technologies.

Our liability is limited to the total fees paid by the client for the specific service rendered. Under no circumstances shall NorthStar be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

6. Refund Policy

Given the contingency nature of our services, refunds are not applicable to unsuccessful cases — no fee is charged, thus no refund is required. For any services provided on a fixed-fee basis (where explicitly agreed in writing), refund requests must be submitted within 14 days of service completion, and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

7. Governing Law

This Service Policy and any disputes arising from the services provided shall be governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any legal action related to these terms shall be brought exclusively in the federal or state courts located in New York County, New York.

NorthStar reserves the right to update or modify this Service Policy at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with the "Last Updated" date below. Continued use of our services after any modifications indicates acceptance of the revised terms.
